John F. Kennedy.
People like to say that if he had lived out his full terms we would see him differently, but the fact remains that (despite some mistakes like all presidents have made) he had some truly significant accomplishments. I also believe that he was one of the few presidents who saw issues as a human being, not as a democrat or a republican as most do. This last fact I believe was his greatest strength.

Teddy Roosevelt. His presidency was an unlikely fluke in his time and an impossibility in ours. His progressive mandate was so well realized that even now, a century later, vested powers are still struggling to unravel it. I've never understood why he has not become a rallying point for those who want to show that compassion in governance does not go hand in hand with being a wuss, and that reining in corporations does not equal socialism.
Oh, And He could take down likely any other president besides Jackson.

I'd go with FDR too. New Deal. Solid leader during WWII
Next I'd take Reagan. Economy in reasonably good shape and oversaw the destruction of the Soviet Union. Reagan had the courage of his convictions and didn't take sh*t from any two-bit dictators in Central America.
