Can a person holding a black belt in Tae kwon do still continue his training in Korea?
That's what my master told me when I reach 1st Dan.
Let me rephreasethe question: If a person were to earn a black belt 91st Dan), would he have to go to Korea to continue learning.
I am a guy so...
i meant 1st dan sry.
Well Shawn I live in America so my knowledge in the martial art is very limited. I just want to know if I have to go to Korea in order to continue through 2nd Dan and beyond.

If you received your 1st Dan from International TaeKwonDo Federation, then your Dan is international and it'll be acknowledged in any country, you'll be 1st Dan everywhere.
And of course you can continue your training for your 2nd Dan in korea.
But if you didn't get your Dan from ITF, then you have 2 choices:
1. if you're sure, you're candidate for 1st dan you have "to do" exam to prove your degree (but i think you still have to get 6 months long preparation training) or win the competition
2. if you're not sure you'll get one, start training from 0 and step by step get the degrees.
Source(s): @Shawn I don't think it's that easy to get 1st Dan in any Matrial Art.. I'm ex- Shotokan Karate Do & current Takemusu Aikido trainee (member of ITAF) and it needs a lot of hard work to get any degree after orange belt (Karate) & 6th Kyu (Aikido)..
