If Homosexuality is SOOOO dangerous, why didn't Jesus say anything about it? ...in the Gospels? ...ever?

Update:

Um... "male" and "female" are genders, not sexualities.

Update 2:

You have to look at Matthew 19 in context. He's talking about whether divorce is permissible under the law. It's disingenuous to take a teaching on divorce and use it out of context against homosexuality.

Update 3:

First of all, Jesus didn't write the book of Romans, that was the Apostle Paul.

Secondly, you need to take those verses in context. Check out Romans 1:21-23:

"For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles."

He's speaking out against idolatry. More specifically, since he's in Rome, he's talking about the Roman religion. Then he continues in Romans 1: 24-25:

"Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen."

He's clearly talking

Update 4:

He's clearly talking about the temple prostitution that was common in that era. This happened especially with temple priestesses dedicated to Aphrodite/Venus, who was the Greek/Roman version of Ashtoreth, the Canaanite fertility goddess. And if you know your Bible you'll know how the Hebrews felt about the Canaanite religion... So then, in Romans 1:26-27 when he says:

"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error."

It's clear it has nothing to do with the modern day concept of Homosexuality. It's pagan temple prostitution and fertility festivals that he's against.

a roman soldier came to jesus and said "the man who lives with me is sick - can you heal him?" jesus could not have missed that these two were gay lovers - did he rebuke them? did he tell them to repend of their sin? did he threaten them with eternal damnation? what did jesus say about their relationship? he said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, healed the man, and went on his way - so how many gay hating christians are really following the example that jesus set? - edit - if heterosexuals would stop having gay children, there would be no problem - it's the straight people that are causing it because gay couples cannot conceive a child

Jesus said many things that were not recorded, this is written numerous times in the Gospels.

That said, homosexuality probably never came up because it was not a question back then. It is so clearly against the natural law that "the Gospel doesn't says so" doesn't hold up as a sound argument. Also, it is an argument from silence to say Jesus didn't care because it was not recorded in the four relations of his life that are canonized.

Also, if you'll recall, Jesus never said anything about circumcision. The followers left after he died made that a point of argument and division between them. But they eventually figured it out through the authority of the Church. In the same way, we can reason about homosexuality.

Lastly, Jesus is the God of the Old Testament as well. And it is clear how God felt about homosexuality in the Old Testament.

Edit: "First of all, Jesus didn't write the book of Romans, that was the Apostle Paul."

The Book of Romans is canonized Scripture. You are only trying to discredit it because it does not agree with you. With that sort of thinking, soon you will be tossing pieces of Jesus out the window one by one until you have a God totally like unto yourself. Start forming yourself to God, not the other way around.

The entire Bible is God's written word, not just those pretty red letters that signify Jesus speaking.

None human beings relatively understand what Jesus might or won't have reported approximately it. All all of us understand is what the gospels let us know, and those books at the instant are not purely centuries previous, yet they're translated and translated returned. whilst i became youthful, I went to Christian church. And whilst i began out disbelieving interior the folklore, I resigned myself from Christianity. however the instructions that I took with me and carry till in the present day, are to no longer hate human beings, and to forgive. i think of those messages are precisely what Jesus meant for us to income. at times human beings make those instructions very complicated, however the surprising element to do is often the greater durable element to do. gay human beings should not be hated. people who declare to be Christian and who hate all and sundry have ignored the instructions.

I suggest reading Romans 1:18-32 for that answer. vs 24 till the end

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Matthew 19:4-5. Jesus reiterates the ultimatum for human sexuality that God lays out in Genesis 2:24. One man, one woman, not descended from one another, for life.

Homosexuality is simply grouped under the umbrella term "sexual immorality" along with fornication and adultery.

(For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder...Mark 7:21 etc.)

To a Jewish person living under the Mosaic Law and reading the Torah, I doubt this question would have even been asked. Lev. 18:22 is very clear.

Jesus said take up your cross and follow him. Homosexuals need to accept themselves as God intended them to be. Gender confusion is not accepting oneself as one is. It is a denial of one's own gender. Some early church fathers thought of Mt 19:12 as including Homosexuals. Homosexuals can offer their suffering to the Lord for the sake of others while they carry their cross.

To both of you quoting Romans, the asker specifically mentioned Jesus, who is historically silent on the issue. Paul's words do not reflect Jesus' opinions.

Being gay is not a sin, some people are born that way. We are all sinners. We all need to follow the commandments . We all must turn from sin. We are all in need of confession and repentence

Homosexuality is not dangerous. The bible has been written over and over again, so any bible that states otherwise is a provocation/lie. Jesus preached love not hate. Jesus said to not judge.
