what pc specs will beat the ps4/xbox 720 specs in terms of graphics performance?
i am trying to futureproof for the next gen of games/consoles at the cheapest cost , i heard the graphics on the ps4 will be the equivalent of a Radeon HD 7850 or higher. so will this spec beat the graphics on those consoles if not what will at the cheapest cost.
i3-3220
GTX 550 Ti 1GB
4GB OR 8GB DDR3 1333MHZ RAM
i think you might have misread or missed out a bit of the question , i needed to know if those specs (GTX 550ti) will beat the ps4/xbox 720 graphics and handle next generation games? i was getting worried because the GTX 550Ti was released 2 years ago and only has 691Gflops (0.69Tflops).

No. It won't beat next gen consoles. They will leave that for dust.
It will still be able to play new games though.
P.S. Jeramine has no idea what he's talking about.

*SPECULATION*
The PS4 has not been released but it is based on a 7850 and an A10 8 core CPU which will be under clocked (use less power and lose performance) BUT all games will be optimised to hell for it after the first year or so and this will MILK performance from a system easily less powerful than some other systems, I reckon that your build will not play games as well as the PS4 even IF it is more powerful. TBH either wait for a PS4 to come out or buy a very powerful PC (i5 + 7850 or 660 +8GB or more RAM). Optimisations are everything so even though your PC will probably be a similar spec to the PS4 (performance wise) the games will run better on the PS4!

The PS4 will handle most things:
It has an 8 core AMD "jaguar" CPU. So what 3.5 GHz maybe?
A 1.84 TFLOPs - next gen radeon graphics card. Your guess of a 7850 is a good bet :)
8Gb of GDDR5 RAM! (this excites a lot of people, as consoles hardly ever have this much memory, let alone GDDR5 RAM which is used solely for graphics)
and it will have USB 3 ports too.
This should be fairly level with most high level gaming PCs that are out right now (I know you get Nvidia titans and all, but who buys them anyway!?)

The PS4 will NOT, I repeat, WILL NOT beat a 7850. They SPECULATE that it will be equivalent to a 7850, but they are basing that completely to the number of TFLOPS it has, which is 1.84, while the 7850 has 1.76 I believe. You can't base that completely off of TFLOPS, considering a 5870 is rated at having 2.72 TFLOPS. Even if the PS4 were using a GPU that could possibly be slightly faster than a 7850, results couldn't ever show it from a PS4. The CPU is only a 1.2GHz Octo core processor, and considering games mostly only use two or four cores, its essentially gaming on a four core 1.2GHz processor, which will bottleneck the crap out of the graphics card. Also, most if not all 7850s can be easily overclocked to a very stable 1050Mhz-1125Mhz core / 1300-1375 mem clock which will give you sometimes 7870 performance.

I have no idea what the Xbox 720 will be using. But for sure the PS4 is going to be using an AMD FX-8350 with Radeon Graphics. and 15MB of ram (LOL). You can beat this easily with a Intel i7, or even an i5, The graphics are also easy to beat by just looking at the 7970.

Its a just right method, but i would afterward try to get a 9800 GTX+ pix card, but store up first. It will have to be ready to give you plenty of performance from the Core i7, it's an k fee, it could be a little minimize, but it still is utilizing a brand new processor. I'd say you would play Crysis on a excessive and maybe even on Very high settings, without AA. Experience your system. Have a first-rate day Ken

any mid-range PC will most probably match or even beat the next gen consoles in performance and the PC would be cheaper too

Really, a console beating a dedicated PC, I don't think so.....A HD 7850 will kick butt over them no problems....:)

No the PS4 will not have graphics that powerful pretty much any PC will beat it
