Look seriously, say what OS you're using (OS=OPERATING SYSTEM) Windows xp/Vista/7/Mac OS-x (version number)/Linux (Ubuntu/Mint/Open Suse etc..)

My apologies for ranting but I had a hell of a week fixing other peoples F**kups with stupid questions even more crazy than the ones listed above.

I've known this girl for 20 years and we have only just hooked up via FB in the past 3 months (after 15 years of going our own way). Is it just me or do the rest of you get frustrated by people asking for help with their computers with the most vague questions, i.e "How do I turn this off?" WTF? then they explain about one thing or another without letting us know what os/browser they're using, we have to make an educated guess to try and help?

I have argued about this with my friends (males) and they think it is the one and the same. I say it is entirely different. Sex is sex. Making love may include sex however as far as I'm concerned that can include just putting your arm around your girlfriend and falling asleep together, Even a small peck on the cheek and a reassuring hug to me is a form of making love.

Ok. Everybody bags Vista and the 32 bit version is so riddled with problems I agree, However the 64 bit version of Ultimate runs extremely well.I've never had a problem with it running old apps or even Dos games using the compatibility feature.The only BSOD (x4) I ever got was because I got carried away with a few too many beers and oc'd a little too much (3 x 1gb mem cards=toast,onboard sound chip=toast) you get the idea,Fixed the hardware and Vista went on its merry way and has done so for(cross my fingers)6 months now.Oh yea I also dual boot with Ubuntu x64.Your thoughts or ramblings will be heard ;).

How many of us here are trying to help people with their problems involving overclocking disasters or network stuffups, Simple speedup techniques or even how to change desktop background .jpg?, Which browser is better or how much memory do I need to run this app?. Should I switch from Vista to Linux or Snow Leopard, If I plug in this (x) into (y) will it work or do I need something else???.

Anyway, WHY CAN'T PEOPLE GIVE SIMPLE INFO LIKE OS,CPU MEM, GFC(gfx card) just anything to go by AAAARGH!!!!

Yes I can tell you how to reboot any pc however without a tiny bit of info it may require a steel capped boot and a hammer ;)

I've seen some crazy sh*t that people can come up with like a friend who sticky taped a vacuum cleaner to the back of his tower to help cooling and another who sat his computer on top of a large cube of foam because he believed it would save his HDD in case of an earthquake ???.So anyway best story gets the 10 points, Show me what you got! =)

I've noticed with my setup the differences between the two (I.e swapped them over) that the Athlon running at 3.0Ghz with memory set via bios @ 800Mhz is faster than the Phenom at the same rate playing heavy graphics dependent games/apps (AMD/ATi Radeon HD 4850).Setting the memory to 1066Mhz(bios) finally kicks the Phenom into gear and takes the gfx card with it(extra bandwidth and all).Here's the fun bit - using amd overdrive utility (the motherboard one not the catalyst one) in auto mode it boosts the Athlon to 3.4Ghz but winds down the Phenom to 2.2Ghz but still shows only 2-3% gain for the Athlon but the Phenom gets a 18-20% boost at a lower clock rate ????.Anyone else seen this with either AMD or Intel chips before?

The last time I saw one was on a friends machine about 3 years ago and he was running (poor old fella Win 98).I haven't seen one on my computers since 1991 and that was Windows V3. something or other which was a memory stick (256 Kb) error.LOL.Anyway running Vista Ultimate X64 and Ubuntu in dual boot for a year now and I'm starting to miss the BSOD.It would give me something to do to try and find a fault.Yes I need to ,get out more but give me your thoughts :P

Ok,here we go.I've just upgraded my motherboard,memory,graphics and psu.The old hdd (original that came with my machine) is only 80Gb which holds the os (Vista Ultimate x64) and myriad of games and other software.I bought a new Wester Digital 500Gb hdd and copied all the files through vistas full system backup option.I had to name this new hdd drive B: because everything from C: to L: is already taken.I have changed the boot sequence through bios but I'm at a loss as to how to rename the new hdd as Local Disk C:.The other problem is that the old drive has the windows boot directories and it's a PATA connection along with my optical DVD burner as a slave drive,whereas the new drive uses SATA II.Will I have to re install the os after dismounting the old drive and copy all my backups to the new drive and how to change the drive name to Loacl Disk C:.I'm hoping there is an easier way.

P.S. All system files are also backed up to an external USB HDD once a week.

I have read somewhere that even 747's were or are capable of flying themselves over 25 years ago, simply by a pilot entering departure details and destination details into the flight computer and all they have to do is basically press "GO" or "ENTER" regardless of the weather or anything else.True or False???.

I have upgraded a stand alone Compaq Presario SR1910AN from the standard 2.0 Ghz Sempron to a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.2Ghz (dual core and oc'd a little bit),integrated Gfx Geforce 6150 LE chipset to ASUS EN8600GT PCIE x 16 512 Mgb DDR3,512 MG mem to 2GB 667Mhz DDR2.PSU was upgraded to 500W.Crysis seems to run fine(only have the demo version) and Call of Duty 4 (also demo)runs fine.I'm thinking that the mobo doesn't have a decent fsb flow to take advantage of the upgrades i've installed (sorry,what I meant by fine is acceptable,where as I would like it to kick A**

Yes!,I've cleaned the registry(CC cleaner),Defragged(IObit Smart Defrag).

I also have IObit Advanced Windows Care,PC Tools Firewall Plus.

Anyway,enough of the tech stuff --- My real problem is that Advanced Windows Care and Microsoft Help And Support give me the same error messages. -->

I've changed all the settings thru Regedit WaitToKillAppTimeout=1000,Kill Service=1000 ANY IDEAS?

Everything works fine with MS Update except for the optional update section.Each time it scans my comp.It tells me there is an updated graphics driver available.The thing is, is that as far as NVIDIA is concernened I already have the most up to date driver.???.

I'm running AMD Sempron 1.8 Ghz(overclocked to2.4),2 Gb Ram(soon to be upgraded to 4Gb).

I only have the NVIDIA 6150LE Integrated Graphics at the moment,but soon(hopefully) configured to an SLI config.Which is supported by my MO.Anyway,I have the NVIDIA 73.91 Driver installed.Any suggestions.(1st attempt at building own KIT within a budget).!!!.P.S.(Running XP sp2).

When I try to send an image from Google Earth by "Clicking" on the large "M",it gives me an option of how I would like to send it.So I scroll down to "Use my G-Mail account" and I get a little window where I need to type in the address of who ever I'm sending it to.My Question is this:-"Why the Hell is there not a button in this popup window so you could access your "CONTACTS" or "ADDRESS BOOK" to make life a lot easier.If there is a way please feel free to E-mail me at:

If I have .net 2.0 installed, can I delete/uninstall 1.1 or is 2.0 an addon or update to 1.1. which would make them part and parcel of the same package.Memory is not an issue nor HD space, just wondering if those services would crash if I remove 1.1

ps. tried shutting it down through services.msc and msconfig ,ie set it to either disabled or manual for startup .Restart,and this machine chooses not to allow access to flash drives,printers,internet etc.However it only denies this to one at a time ????.Yes I have the latest McAfee Antivirus,I've run ccleaner and defragged.Plus also run Swatit and Hijackthis.Could it be a conflict by having both1.1 and 2.0 running at the same time.? I know I said a "Quick Question",but you know how it goes.

I've tried the help icon and it says this:-

1.Click the MAIL tab.

2.Click NEW.

3.Click Attach,and then click PICTURES on the menu.

4.Using the MSN Photo Upload Tool, locate the folder that contains your images and select the pictures you want to attach,and then click ATTACH FILES.

Then it goes on to say "If you Download the MSN Photo Upload Tool,you can preview and edit your pictures before you attach them to your message.

I'm using IE 7, and Mozzilla Firefox.(Not at the same time((DUH!!)),Still lost).

Anyway,where the hell(how) do I find this MSN Photo Upload Tool ??????.

An attachment to #.3. It doesn't ask for pictures,it asks to open/search files/folders.

A number of questions:-

1.Is Firefox or Motzilla better than IE??.

2.Will the other browsers make my surfing faster??.

3.Are there any security issues I should know about before downloading one of these other browsers??.

4.To cut through all the BULLS$#T please let me know what are the pros/cons of doing this??.
