A question for all you computer wizzes..?

Maybe you can help me? I have an American laptop, but I am now back in the Uk. The 'Dollar' sign ($) is on the keys, but I would prefer to have the 'Pound' sign (£) when I am typing - (Obviously, now I am back..) is there any way to 'change' that? Or, am I just stuck with that, as it's an American computer....? Thanks for helping.

    Go to the language settings in your control panel, you can change the language from English US to English UK, this will alter the settings, you should also see that the Number 2 key, will change from @ to ".
