NASCAR Nation...would this satisfy everyone?

There is always a lot of complaining about track designs-too many cookie cutter tracks, need more road courses and (myself included here) need more short tracks, etc., boring races and tracks and of course, the Chase format.

People mainly seem not to like Michigan, California (Auto Club Speedway) and Pocono.

What if NASCAR was to take one date away from each of those tracks. Then, they could use one of them to put a new road course like Road America, Road Atlanta or maybe even Mid Ohio if that works out on the Sprint Cup schedule.

The other 2 could be used to put a couple of the old short tracks that are still around back on the schedule.

Also, what do you think of having the tracks rotate the chase races so that they're at different tracks every year? I know that some tracks like Michigan, Watkins Glen and even Sonoma would have to be early in the chase because of weather concerns, but, how about it?

I'm all for it. Anything to change it up a little.

They need to rotate the chase tracks. Five 1.5 mile tracks in the chase sucks. Adding Watkins Glen or Sonoma would be awesome. If the are concerned about rain, put on the rain tires. It worked in the Nationwide race in Montreal.

@Staap It- International Speedway Corp. owns Watkins Glen. Between Bruton Smith and Nascar they own 20 race tracks on the tour.

Why do you even care what others have got to say about it? Are you a fan? If yes then revel in it and ignore the haters! Commonly it appears individuals purposefully go out looking for opposition to anything they like just to stir up challenge... It will not be bodily in the sense that you're now not strolling or leaping or something, but you are utilizing quite somewhat of drive man-dealing with that race auto around the monitor. If the automobile handles like crap you ought to be on the wheel making sure you don't get into the wall or take anyone else out. And i'm definite there is quite a few intellectual exercise that goes into it which at times can be just as traumatic and traumatic as a totally physical recreation. And to the opposite poster it's not handiest preferred in the southern states. I am in NYC and there are a lot of NASCAR fanatics i know within the discipline.

I like the idea of adding road courses, but like MBL said, a lot of NASCAR fans don't like them for reasons beyond me. Raw driver skill is put to the test at road courses like no other, which is what I find appealing about them. Very exciting racing for those who appreciate and understand that kind of racing.

I like the rotation idea as well; while I think the playing field level in the chase is currently pretty even, rotating races from year to year will make it as level as level gets as far as the chase in concerned. I would love to see the silly Talladega race thrown out of the chase and replaced with a date at the glen and replace the last race (Homestead) with something a little more action packed, like Atlatna or Charlotte.

Hummm, does International Speedway own any of the tracks you mention ? Since International Speed way IS nascar, and since they race on their own tracks, ( with a few exceptions, like Bruton who incidentally had to almost file suit to get a race, same with the guy who owns Texas., or do we not remember that either ? May be Bruton who owns Texas, if that is the case he did have to sue after setting up the track the way nascar wanted nascar backed out of the deal, thus squeewing the guy ) I highly doubt it would ever happen, unless nascar buys some road courses.

EDIT : Oh, How about some figure 8 racing. Have to turn BOTH directions, and an overpass to avoid high speed wrecks. Even some nice high angle banks in the turns. :)

I would enjoy it if there were one date each race season that floated to different tracks, say Road America in 2013, Road Atlanta in 2014, Mid-Ohio in 2015, etc. I also agree that the Chase races should be moved around a little, but in October and November, weather is a big consideration and you have to pick tracks that have a small chance of getting rained out.

I don't mind 1.5-mile tracks themselves, it's the fact there's too many of them. Let's face it if half the tracks looked like Bristol people would eventually get tired of that too. Pocono seems to be the one track that is different but still hated because it's so boring. Even though it's usually kind of dull it should keep at least one race just because it's unique. Honestly if there was one 1.5-mile track that should lose a date it's Kentucky. I still can't figure for the life of me why so many people wailed for it to be added to the schedule.

Road courses are pretty divisive among the fans, between those who think they're a nice change and a great test and those who just can't stand them. I wouldn't mind one more on the schedule but think that should be it.

The idea of rotating the Chase tracks makes sense in theory, but realistically would be very hard if not impossible to pull off. There are too many track politics in play.

I love the idea of more road courses. But remember that many Nascar fans can't stand cars having to turn both directions, and face elevation changes.

I'd like to see Rockingham get one race a year. Maybe Wilksboro to. I've been to mid-Ohio before for a sportscar race . It a pretty cool road course.

Pocono sucks so does road courses IMO. I would love to see some of the old school tracks back though. Maybe even a few races on Dirt, That would be sick!

I have no problem rotating the chase but the tracks that have the Chase draw crowds and the facility that hosts them can handle it, thats why the chase races at at those particular tracks.
