No Car Seats In Car with Toddlers?
So I just called 911 on a car with two toddlers and not a carseat to be seen, 4 adults in a Dodge Neon (small sedan) and somewhere in that car were two toddlers and no carseats. Everyone clown car-ed in and the two girls (2 and 3 yrs old) were shoehorned into laps in the back seat. With 4 adults there are no room for two carseats.
Did I over react? Part of me feels like I did but part of me in very pissed off that how dare they ride around and not have car seats for them! I guess it doesn't matter now, I already made the call but I'm torn, did I do the right thing?
With two adults riding in the back seat there wasn't room for them (tiny sedan only has room for 3 seat belted riders and the two adults were on each side) and they were far too small for booster seats.
If I was wrong they will be pulled over and nothing will happen, but if I was right the officer will dress them down and give them tickets (for child endangerment?) and they won't do that again.

Considering motor vehicle crashes is the leading cause of death of children, I'd say you did the right thing.

Don't doubt yourself; you did the right thing. And to the other answerer, a booster seat is not sufficient for toddlers.
"Child's car safety seats are specifically designed to protect the brain and spinal cord during crashes by distributing the energy from a crash around the child." Toddler seats are used for children older than age 1 and more than 22 lbs. up to 40 lbs. These seats are forward-facing in the back seat. Use the LATCH system to lock the car seat into the car. Pull the harness tight so there is no room to pinch the webbing at the shoulder. Booster seats are used for children weighing between 80 and 100 lbs. and average around 4 feet, 9 inches tall. For most kids, this is between ages 8 to 12."

Yes, you did.
The car seat issue is a strange one. When I was a toddler there was no such thing as a car seat. You either strapped in a baby carrier, or set it on the floor, or held the kid in your lap....
Hell, we had this big ole oldsmobile with no seat belts. All of us kids used to climb up in the back window... there was a little shelf behind the back of the seat, and lay down up there while we were driving.
And no one, not even cops, ever thought anything was wrong with that. Back then, no one knew any better. And there are a lot of people who subscribe to the philosophy that if they lived through it, it must be okay.
There are also emergency situations that sometimes make us, as parents, make tough decisions. Once I took a bus out to a shopping center and missed the last bus home. I called everyone i knew, no one was home, and we'd spent the last of our money (the day before check came) shopping, so no cab. A guy at a car dealership we were walking past, said his boss told him to give us a ride. The boss confirmed it. But there's no car seat. Do I walk 6 miles with my toddler while it's getting dark? Or risk a 5 minute car ride? (I walked lol but it was tempting)
So, no, it's not deliberate abuse or lack of concern. But car seats are the law for a reason. You don't ever *expect* to be in an accident, but the child will be just as hurt, or just as dead, whether you intended it or not.
But don't worry. No one is gonna take their kids away, or throw them in jail. They will get a ticket and a BIG fine if they are caught, and hopefully it will make them consider better decisions in the future.
Personally? BIG thumbs up to you for caring more about the kids than anything else.

Convertable carseats do not work within the strollers, atleast none that i've visible. But I to find that I just like the convertable carseat higher seeing that i get extra use out of it for the money. With the little one seat my boys have been attending to big earlier than they had been even 9 months historical so i nonetheless had to purchase the convertable carseat then flip round and purchase a front dealing with carseat with a harness that also works as a booster seat once they had been 2 half years historical. So i simply would instead buy 2 carseats rather of 3 plus i under no circumstances liked having to put off the baby seat in any case so i certainly not hooked up it to the stroller or anything.

You did exactly what should have been done. No child needs to be in danger due to the stupidity of adults. My hometown actually charged a woman with first degree murder when her 3 year old died in a car accident without a car seat. Her family saw her put that baby into the car and let her drive away. You won't ever have the guilt that I'm sure they do now.

You sure they weren't in booster seats ? The small ones that you can't see from a car window?
If there is no car seats, you just helped 2 kids. If they wrecked the kids would have gotten hurt.
I wouldn't worry about it any more.

How do you know that the kids were 2 and 3 years old?
I would say it was pretty insane to call 911, but whatever floats your boat. Odds of catching them are very slim. If they find them at their address there is no proof that what you said really happened.

You most definitely did the right thing. We have carseat laws to protect children who can't protect themselves.
