How to escape car addiction?
I am what you call a car enthusiast. And after realizing the time and brain power it consumes of my life, I realized that it was a bad thing.
Seriously, every time I look at a road, I catch myself identifying every single car in view. That is not good.
I can not go cold turkey, since every road I see revives my hated addiction. The occasional Ferrari gets my heart racing no matter how hard I try to control it. Even watching TV puts me into the dreaded car ads.
And now, I have withdrawal symptoms. Every car dealership I see, every car that I can recognize makes me sad. While I am on the road, I feed depressed knowing the specs of all the cars whizzing by. The occasional Ferrari now makes me sigh instead of giggle in ecstasy.
The creepiest thing is that nobody realizes this addiction. All who go in never come back out, and are damned for life. All who aren't enthusiasts never see the addiction of those who are.
I'm starting to think that this is the worst addiction of modern society.

Ya I have the same problem. It gets the worst when you dont have a car to drive/work on or a car to drive in general. My cars getting fixed for a valve that broke. I say me putting a stiffer spring in the bov and then putting in my new tuned ecu did it. My bad on that part. A lot or almost all of my money goes into car performance. Hell im going cold turkey at the moment. No car to spend my life with kills me. I cant function right. Anyways, to me. Ive learned its the best addiction. If it makes us happy then keep going with it. Why leave your passion behind? Theres car enthusiasts, and theres car enthusiasts like us who overthink things. (I consider us the smarter ones since we get the picture we can teach ourselves to chill out, see different paths. unlike the others who are stuck in it not knowing.) Just do what makes you happy, and success will follow. You should be relieved that you can see a problem. You have the options that others do not. For every passion there is no one gives up. Its life. Enjoy it. Snap out of it being such a bad thing for you. It obviously makes you happy if you just accept it and see the good things in life that a passion can bring to you. Ive been working on making motor vehicles perform better than they can amd how they should since I was 7. I have friends whos passion was hockey at a young age. Now every single one of them is in the NHL. Never give up or leave what you already have.your never to young or old to be happy or not. Be happy .read upmon specs. Check out the roads. Capitalize on yourselfs knowledge. Be happy with yourself!
Sorry for any english errors or typos. Bad choice typing on a damn tablet.
Source(s): I study mental health, and have a passion for cars. There is a difference between the two. Just try and see the difference the best you can so you can once again be happy and not worry about the little things!
