    I don't understand Girl's shop.

    Is it a clothing store?

    A gift shop?

    You don't say.

If it is a family business then you can understand why your mother need your help.

Will you work in the back of the store? Organizing, carrying, stocking shelves?

Perhaps she wants you to do paperwork?

There is nothing wrong with honest work. I'm sure she isn't asking you to be a dressing room assistant.

Instead of looking at the situation in a negative way, think of it as every male in your school would like to have the opportunity to have a steady stream of young girls coming into their work place . You might take a poll and ask each girl for her impression of the shop, home many times a year does she shop there, how did she hear about it, what does she think of the price structure in general, will she recommend it to her friends ?

Be respectful and business like and ask what hobbies they have and where they hang out and are their friends

I've seen (straight) blokes work in Claires before. Don't see what the problem is. I've also seen girls work in boy's shops and neither gender seems to mind. Be lucky you actually got a job in this recession.
