Xbox One reveal: What did you think?

While I am a fan of the 360, I honestly didn't see too much special with the presentation.

- It's a glorified remote control?!

- A real shame about the lack of backwards compatibility. While I'm not really surprised, it would have given them an edge over Sony.

- They say it isn't always online, yet, they were HEAVILY promoting cloud gaming. Cloud gaming would require you to always be online (or at least to initialize the game and saving.)

- Fees to play used games? Really?

http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/xbox-one-p...

- Halo the TV show? (While I like the idea) Really .... I though they were presenting a games console.

There were other things that I didn't like, but they were minor and I can overlook.

Overall, I was disappointed. I expected more, especially since they've seen what Sony's bringing.

I guess the E3 will be the real decider. Those exclusives they mentioned better be worth it, otherwise I don't see it having a strong future, at least as a gaming console.

These are just my thoughts at the moment, and they could change if something or someone can convince me otherwise. Good luck. Feel free to disagree, but please keep it civil.

Side Question: Xbox One????? Really?

Update:

I refuse to call it Xbox One. As of this moment, I will rename it, the X-1. (That's a little better, I think.)

Update 2:

As to backwards compatibility, I was also referring to XBLA content not being transferable either. Yyet, available to buy again. W? T? F???

Update 3:

Well, at least I know my favorite Youtube channels share my thoughts:

Angry Joe Show:

AlphaOmegaSin

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKm94T0jfzQ&list=UU...

There are many others, but they are my top 2.

-i kinda feel like they are definitely making gaming the background of it, when it should be the main thing. This was most obviously represented through the fact of them presenting a tv series and having the first 30 minutes say nothing about gaming, when its a game console reveal. The same way many people buy Nintendo Wii's just to help get a little more active, as opposed to actually buying it to play video games; i think will be the same way more people will be buying it for other things it can do rather than actual gaming, like not having to worry about remotes and all that stuff. Which is cool but we gotta remember it is a gaming console, and in this factor i believe it has failed.

    - Yeah although it isnt always online i think that was simply something nice for the few people who cant play online, but i honestly think without online it'll be nothing more than a cable box. Because as we all know, the infamous xboxs are known for their massive online play, and it'll only get bigger.

    - I kind of expected it not to be backward compatible, it was the last thing i was expecting. But after seeing how much of it is dedicated to television and other entertainment, I would say that would've been a very smart beneficial move for them.

-All in all I for one have never been a Microsoft fan for anything they make, but fan or not it's not hard to see this is a failure.Although As you stated,it wont be official until E3. I can kinda see why plenty xbox fans are waiting to see what they have on the plate for E3, but honestly dont we all already know. The same crap its famous for - a new Gears something, a new Halo something, a new COD something - it'll be nothing new worth getting excited for. In my opinion at least.

-As for the fee for playing used games, hopefully they notice how bad an idea that is. That's way too money hungry and enough of a reason alone for plenty people not to buy it.

-I think this will be very interesting though, to see where goes. Especially considering how the preceding xbox consoles have always had excessive overheating quickly problems, and they want this one to basically be your cable box. Which might I add, never turns off in most households. Adding onto the fact it is a gaming console. It will be VERY interesting to see where this goes. But to make matters more interesting, rumor has it PS4 pre-orders went up 10% since the reveal.

BQ: I KNOW RIGHT Xbox One wasnt even a rumored name. Way to screw up a title. wtf is an "xbox one" that doesnt flow, people will not be calling it that. I can guarantee you everyone will just call it "the new xbox". I think Xbox720 sounded much better and was much more predictable btw, but I think Xbox Infinity was the best name overall. Its a name for Pete's Sake, it should've been something good.

Side Note: You should make your Q&A available to your contacts dude, so I can answer them. I would've never seen this question if i didnt happen to be one at the moment.

Xbox One! First of all, that name sounds like Microsoft is going 359 steps back. Why even call it that? And why should I care if I can watch TV on the Xbox One? The Wii U does that already, first of all, and at least you can play games while someone else watches TV, so it's pretty much already better than the Xbox One's TV feature. They're also saying it doesn't require an always online connection, but all the features and the vice president says other wise. If I have to sign in every 24 hours, then whats the point of taking the Xbox One offline anyway? You know that I, and just about everybody in the sticks, won't be buying it for that reason alone. If I have to pay a fee to play a game I borrowed, rented, or bought used, then I might as well buy the game new. Granted I buy most of my games new anyway, but if I can't find a game new, then that might be expensive on my part. Also, I don't like the fact that the Kinect is included. Who's going to actually use the thing? The only purpose the Kinect provided in the past was voice control, and that's it. Not only that, but what about the people that can't talk? Did they design the thing to read sign language? In the game console business, you have to focus on everybody, and they just aren't doing that. Sure, some of these are just my speculations, but it's something to think about. I don't even think it will take long for it to go away, because Microsoft just made the competition look better. Hey, I'll be seeing what they have going on for E3, but they disappointed a lot of people.

It seems like the xbox one has more features then the ps4 but some features i just don't care for. I don't care for the cable tv feature and from what i read. The XBO doesn't give you cable, it just interacts with the service you already have. The voice commands and motion controls have me interested but it may turn out to be buggy. I would hate to be playing a game or browsing netflix with motion controls and the kinect doesn't do its job. The snap feature was cool but I can care less if it was there or not. Both PS4 and XBO will allow you to share footage of your games. We will have to see which one will allow you to do it better. I also don't care about playing my games on a tablet. The ps4 has the vita so that cloud feature may be better for the ps4. PS4 wins on specs so far. The XBO did not show the gpu specs. I'm sure the XBO will have a better OS but I'm not sure if I want to pay a membership fee just to use there online services. E3 will be the real reveal for both systems. That's where ill start to lean on which one I want.

I don't know. [I'm not an Xbox person AT ALL.]

However, it seems to me that they might be successful in the 'ignorant' market. I'm not trying to sound mean, I just mean parents that don't know jack about anything seeing the Xbox One and being like 'Oh this'll go perfectly in our living room, and little Jimmy will just love it.'

That's how it seems to me at least; The Xbox One is trying to take over your WHOLE LIVING ROOM. All the PS4 wants to dominate is your free time.

I agree, the whole thing seems quite corny. Xbox: "Watch porn". hahahahahahaha

I love my 360, but sony might have a new customer this generation.

I think it's a good idea, but as of right now, poorly executed.
