I think its just a product of the government. Political leaders have always persecuted political enemies to maintain power. That's the way its always been. Our society just tends to use the irs to do that.

No, I am not a tax cheat and thus never gave them a reason to look into me further.
I support the IRS checking on tax dodgers, that's what their job is.
