I used to tink of it as an old persons name, however I have recently known a little Dorothy and she is adorable. The name suits her completely, and even made me consider using the name. I think Dot is ok, if you really want to shorten it, but I wouldnt personally use it. I also know a Dorothea.

I adore Dorothy, but I hate Dot. It is blunt and unattractive. I personally am not a fan at all since every Dorothy "Dot" I have ever met is rude. I much prefer Dorothy "Dory". It is cute and sounds better.

I really don't like the name Dorothy. As for the nickname, I think Dottie would be better. Just plain ol' Dot sounds rather boring.

I love the name Dorothy! I'd have this on my list if our last name wasn't Donaldson!

It would suit a dog more than a baby girl.
