My sister spent a year training her cats and my parents undid it in one day?

The vet told us the importance of using leads when deciding to take the cats outside, and after the last one was hit by a car, the importance of such a thing should be key to my parents, however, they ignored everything learnt from the death of the previous cat and decided to let the cats out of any door without their leads.

Now they reign over the household meowing and getting whatever they want because my parents cant say no to the cats and think that everything they do mean they want to go outside.

This lax behaviour (not watching them, not knowing where they are) will get the cats into trouble because we won't be there to stop them.

My sister was teaching them that they can only go out through one door and must be on leads at all times. My parents have been a constant problem when trying to instill discipline in these cats. My parents do not listen to a single thing we say about how to raise the cats.

The cats are not scared of or dislike water.

What can I do?

Update:

Answerer 1: That is exactly what they say. Cats are meant to be "free". If we don't let them out, they are "prisoners".

    Aren't parents great?

When I lived at home, my parents were the same way with my cat.

Your problem is really with training your parents, not the cats. You and your sister know how to train cats.

I don't know what you can do about this except for what I finally did-- moved out and got my own place.

My cats are indoor because I live in a condo, so I have no desire to take them outside! But even if I lived in a house, I would still keep them inside. Outdoor cats are more prone to developing illnesses, getting injured from fights with other animals, and/or even getting run over by cars (like your previous kitty. =(. ). If your parents REALLY feel the need to let the cat outside, what my parents did is, they use a cat leash. They let out their cat in the backyard, but only on a leash and only under their supervision.

enable them to be as they're now. that's amazingly organic with Charlie, being the senior contained in the homestead, not being waiting to place up with opposition (in spite of male) from the paternal area. Cats are cats. The scuffling with you spot would be in general relaxing for them until eventually we come between and get ourselves injured. Your Smokey additionally will come into phrases finally and in any case they don’t stay longer than adults age sensible. So relish them as they're whilst giving them or asking your loved ones to offer slightly of educating and that they alongside at the same time with your amazing family individuals would be satisfied. that's a super ingredient to have the employer of puppy animals as stay-ins and whilst human beings living with us behave like animals contained in the recent age. Peace.

They might feel that they're being cruel if they don't let them have their "freedom"!

    Hope it works!
