How long does getting a passport take?
I met a girl in India. We have developed a great friendship, hopefully leading to a relationship and marriage. I would like to fly her to the US, so that we may spend some quality time together and see if we enjoy each others company. When I talked to her, she seemed to think it would take a month to aquire a passport. I can't imagine it taking that long, but I really don't have the slightest clue. Does anybody have any idea how long it should take for someone from India to get a passport to come to the US? Thanks

the passport will be a lot easier than the visa ..
she will need to have a job, home and a good income ..together with a good
reason for returning ...it may be difficult

Unless your girl is at least 55 years old, has a government job, a husband and two or more children, she will not get a visitor's visa, the B2, or any other visa to the United States, so don't worry about the passport. If you want to spend qualify time with this girl, it will have to be in India or another country. Understand that Indian traditions prohibit you to be too close to her without a chaperon. Get a visa, buy a round trip ticket, and prepare yourself in spending at least a month there. India is beautiful; I was there for 6 months in 1985.

It takes longer than that to get a US passport.
Getting an Indian passport can take years. If you don't pay the proper bribes at the proper times in the process, you may never get it.
And once she has a passport, good luck getting a visa. That is unlikely to happen. Unmarried Indian girls don't get visas. The US government knows what's up with them.

the girl is right, it takes atleast a month to get a passport in India. But let me ask u a question, why do u doubt her. y do u want to cross examine her answer " when u dont have belief in her answer y do u call her to US. what is ur motive. Is it to romance her and to enjoy her?Are u a playboy kind of character.

4-6 weeks, normally.
2 weeks if you pay $60 extra for expedited service and apply directly at a passport office, instead of a post office or by mail or something. and pay overnight delivery shipping fees on top of that.

EDIT: ignore psycho-crazy-baby-head-avatar guy there. indian citizens can visit the US, obviously. except for the normal restrictions - felon, suspected terrorist, person who's previously violated US immigration / visitation laws. and um yeah, you can hang with your lady friend without a chaperone most anywhere you want. india's a big country, so i'm sure there are villages there, especially in the north (even towns in the north.) that would frown upon such a thing, but in any city or most anywhere in south india no one's gonna care about any of that stuff. except for maybe a frown from an old person. - PatLv 78 years ago

I have no idea how long for an Indian passport.
So, dumbass.
GO TO THE DAMN INDIAN GOVERNMENT WEBSITE AND LOOK IT UP.
I HATE STUPID PEOPLE.
