I'm leaving home in two days and I'm scared?
I'm 18, fresh out of school. I come from a country town and I'm moving to the city in two days to pursue music. Up until now I've been so excited, so optimistic, so happy to be independent. But now it comes down to it: two days until I move and I'm so scared. I'm having a lot of anxiety and I don't know how to cope with it. I don't even know why I have such anxiety. What are some good ways of coping with leaving home? Is this normal? Am I panicking over nothing? I really need some help with this because its eating away at me and I'm so frightened by the prospect. Thanks

It's the nerves of not knowing what to expect, and leaving behind people and places you are so used to. Nerves are fine, and once you are there, you'll be fine. Give a couple days to adjust to your new surroundings, and then it'll be a synch!

It's very very common what you're going through and perfectly normal. Moving out is the first big step you make towards adulthood. There' really no precise way to help you become more relaxed. I would say, get closure from the place and the people. Don't leave any issues hanging loose with anyone. Make the best of the tie you have with your parents and family because you will miss them (specially at first). Know where you are going and what exactly are you going to do. Research the city, the places.
When you get there, somethings will come as a shock to you, but don't be disappointed. Keep your hopes up and your dreams higher while keeping a realistic overview of everything.

Just say to yourself "It's only 8 weeks (or whatever) and I'll meet loads of people feeling just the same as I do, and I can do this because that's what growing up is all about."
Arrange to come home for the weekend after your first week so you have something to look forward to. Keeping a diary might be good and something to use in your autobiography when you are famous!
