Kiwis - how do you pronounce Tokerau?

as in the beach?

two questions really - is it "oh" or "ow" on the end? Or something else like 'ay-you'?

And where is the stress accent, on the first, second or third syllable? TOKE-er-o or To-KER-o or Tok-e-RA-YOU

who knew there were so many possible ways to say this word?

Thanks!

I saw it more like Toke- er - reow, with slightly more emphasis on the the first and the 3rd syllables.

I have heard that you say things like Tau, Rau, etc like TOE, ROW (as in row your boat) as Taupo, should be said TOE - PAW, so it's probably more correct to say it like that, but commonly people say it the other way.

    I,i as in See.

    O,o as in Got.

    U,u as in Boo.

Properly speaking, the first syllable rhymes with mock and the last syllable more-or-less rhymes with know.

Having said that, a lot of people pronounce it so that the last syllable rhymes with cow.
