Dads, do you deserve acknowledgment?

Were you really so wonderful? Is anyone supposed to honor you after what you did to them? Can your really say that you were an adequate, lovable dad?

I'd happily honor my dad BUT he simply was not honorable and it hurts a lot to feel that. So, dads, do we really owe you anything at all? Are you happy with your fathering?

For me, Father's Day (and Mothers Day) are very depressing, sad and even angry events.

My dad, who sadly isn't living any more, raised me by himself. He dealt with everything from my first period, to heartbreak from my first boyfriend. Even through those hormone filled, teen-aged angst years, he cared for me. When I was older, he was one of my closest friends.

So my dad did deserve Father's day. I owe him a lot, as he's the reason I'm a successful, happy adult.

I can't imagine that my dad was the only guy out there like this.

I feel my child should at least acknowledge me. I mean I didn't run like a scared punk when I found out she had been conceived and would come about 3 months after my 17th birthday. I had just come to America from my native country and was honestly relying on her mother(my now wife) to help me navigate everything, because she was older and an American. I got a job and did what I had to do and my child has never gone without! She might grow up to hate me like some children do, but I take pride that I did not abandon her like most men would have done.

They always were and mothers day still is for me. As far as I'm concerned, my kids don't need to honor me on any day. that is for them to decide. I do believe that i am a good dad, I don't believe I have damaged either of my kids nor left emotional scares.

    UM YES!

Most dads work and provide food and shelter for their children and give them toys and etc.

My dad is awesome, so is my mom!
