Help restoring my Acer Aspire One to factoiry defaults?

Acer Aspire One D257-13450

Planning on selling, Tested Factory default restore and it came up, and i got out of it, however after cleaning it up the FDR isn't working right and says when i press alt+f10:

EDIT BOOT OPTIONS

Path: \windows\system32\winload.exe

Partition: 3

Hard Disk: 8f086ca8

[ /noexecute=optin (DOS typing cruiser right at end of this) ]

Enter=Submit ESC=Cancel

Tried enter, windows boots up as normal. It the FDR ruined? can i fix this?

I did the following to clean it:

Used ccleaner to clean files, and wipe empty space

went into APPDATA folder in the users folder and deleted several files

use disk cleaner to clean system files.

uninstalled unnecessary programs.

I restored as far back as i could with system restore and landed in the middle of the programs i was uninstalling. Windows boots fine, so what happened?

If I please could get answers from someone who has a good grasp on what may have happened, and not just guesses, that would be great.

Update:

windows 7 starter

I used ccleaner to wipe data so no one could extract deleted data

And what version of Windows OS is running on the laptop ?

Did you create the operating system recovery disc set for the laptop ?

After creating the recovery disc set use the built in recovery to put it back to factory this writes over the old operating system and every thing on the hard drive. You do not need to delete any files or use CCleaner when you do a system recovery putting it back to factory.

I think you should just download the program that lets you use your flash drive to install Windows instead of the non-existent DVD drive. It will make your USB stick bootable, then you load a Windows 7 ISO on it. Search it up on YouTube. "How to install Windows 7 through USB stick" That way you can get to the installer, find the HD partition, delete it and format it, and then install a new copy of Windows. You have to make sure that you choose the advanced drive options. If you simply select "Clean installation of Windows", it will save your old stuff to a separate folder and it will STILL BE THERE. You want to keep your information safe.

Source(s): I have formatted drives in the Windows installer, it's easy. If you are still confused, try a video on how to format your HD in Windows 7.
