Have you heard about the crash and 24 hrs Le Mans? (Allan Simonsen)?
Danish racing driver Allan Simonsen has died from injuries sustained in a tragic crash that took place during the first hour of racing today in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services in attendance, Simonsen’s injuries proved fatal. R.I.P.
Seems like a lot of bad wrecks lately, all classes.

There is a fundamental problem with safety at this track. Le Mans does not require drivers to use a HANS device, and there is no part of the track with SAFER barriers. If Mr. Simonsen had been wearing a HANS device, and there had been a SAFER barrier where he hit, then he would probably still be with us.

Yeah, that was a damn shame. Racing deaths are quite uncommon now, so it's always more of a shock when it happens (back in the 60's and 70's, you almost expected to loose a driver or two in a season of Champ Car, F1, or sports cars).
I've seen the in-car video, and I don't think it was an equipment failure.
He had the left side tires out on the paint, and it had been raining, so the paint was going to be really slick. It looks to me like the car started to break loose, he caught it, and it "hooked' back to the left.
From watching the Speed coverage this morning, it looks like he hit hard enough that the Armco moved back into one of the trees, knocking a lot of bark off. If he actually went in where the tree is, that's going to be a really abrupt stop

Yeah i watched that on tv. Were tragity to see someone at only the age of 34 die from that.
Back of the car lost grip and just went out of control into the wall.
R.I.P Allan simonsen

I saw the replay from the in-car camera from the car behind it.
It looked like he wiggled a little, then went hard left.
Some are saying it lost traction on the painted & wet edge of the track
RIP!
