Can I get an AA before getting an RN license and Bachelors degree for a nurse practitioner?

I want to become a nurse practitioner but I can't drive to the school in order to get my RN license. I will be attending my local community college. A nurse practitioner needs a RN license, a BSN and a Masters degree. I can complete my prerequisite courses at the campus for the license and AA degree. The tricky part is I don't have my drivers license and I won't have it In time in order for me to enter into the RN program. I was thinking about getting my AA first due to that and then continuing on and transferring to a different college. Please help anything helps!!! If you need more clarification let me know!!! I want to know if the order matters. Thank You!!!

I'm guessing your CC doesn't have an RN program? If not, then focus on the GE and PreNursing. If this comes with an AA degree, great. If it doesn't, no problem. You'll then take those classes and move them over to a university that offers a BSN program.

If you don't have a license by then, then consider dorming it. Many colleges offer special dorms for nursing students and it can be a good way to make contacts and have a good support system.

If nursing is a career that you are seriously pursuing, then you should definetly should get your bachelor's degree. There is no quick way to become a nurse and to get your bachelor's degree will take about 4 years (some rare programs offer a fast track and you can finish a semester early). The easiest way to finish is to make sure you get great (not good) grades during the prereqs so you are accepted into a nursing school the first time you apply. If nursing is something you are just kinda thinking about then you could become an RN with an associates degree, but if you like the profession then you will find yourself going back to school again when you could have just done it all the first time. Good luck!
