First time going to a psychiatrist D: scared?!?

Okay so in less than 6 hours I'm going to psychiatrist :/ and I'm scared D: I have problems with anxiety and I've been waiting for this appointment for like a while it took my mom some time to find open spots. I've never been to one before and nobody in my family either so I don't know what it's like. Will they make the conversation .___. because I'm terrified of awkwardness. Anything I should expect? plzz help

Well I have worked with them for 25 years, as it is my line of work--psych healthcare.

The psychiatrist realizes you are anxious--and you can even tell him/her the same.

They need to know some history on you, how you are eating, sleeping, concentrating. They will ask if you are depressed or feel anxious, or suicidal. This is all for them to get to know what is going on.

Just take some deep breaths and relax.

Just relax and try not to over think it . These people are trained to hold conversations without being awkward. They will be there to help you so you should let them worry about the meeting, not you !

A psychiatrist will make conversation and it won't be awkard. All he/she will do is find the point of where your problem is coming from and talk. You'll do fine. God bless you.
