Why do schools teach about evolution but not about Adam and Eve?
A friend of mine has a kid that goes to a catholic school (her other kid choose to attend a public school) and in one of his classes they teach about evolution but he complains about being confused because also they teach about Adam and Eve. This is one of the reason her other son decided to go to a public school saying their teachings are crazy and unbelievable.
I went to a public school and they taught me about evolution as well. I am atheist and I believe the story about Adam and Eve is false just like everything else religious but that is besides the point. Why do they not teach Adam and Eve in schools if it is a "fact"?

Oh, they've been trying, but it isn't a "fact" no matter how often they claim it is. The Catholic schools teach evolution and also Adam and Eve in the Religion classes, but they are clear that the Adam/Eve story is not literally true. When I was in public school, the only place any of the Biblical material was taught was in a Literature unit on Mythology.

Because Evolution is Science, while Adam and Eve are religion.
Genesis is not untrue, it's just not literal fact.
Public schools are designed for the public, which may not include only Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc. Such schools are not suppose to impose religion, but more earthly facts.

why is evolution taught but not the story of Satanic evolution (Satan lived on earth and through genetic engineering he modified us to be the perfect species... well almost then left) because nobody believes it, evolution has enough evidence to back it up but adam and eve have no evidence. Mine co-exists with evolution, adam and eve are just... strange.
Source(s): mine sort of explains evolution and adam and eve is just... strange. - evirustheslayeLv 78 years ago
The US constitution specifically states that there can be no establishment of religion. this means the government can't tell you either directly or indirectly (through education) what to believe in. Since Adam and Eve is a religious story it would violate that prohibition.

Because evolution is an observed fact, and "adam and eve" is a proven-false religious myth.
It's the same reason kids aren't taught that Prometheus made the first man out of fired clay, and then Zeus breathed life into him -- except in mythology classes.

One is a scientific concept with mountains of evidence to back it, the other is just a story that people have faith is true.
In addition, if Adam and Eve were taught, so too would EVERY creation story, in EVERY religion have to be taught as well.

because Adam and Eve never existed. The human race did not originate from two people.
Evolution happens - get over it.

The public schools have an agenda to promote secular humanist atheism based upon their highly protected and promoted RELIGION of EVOLUTION.
They will never teach anything that shows how ridiculous evolution is, even if was confirmed by an atheisitic university like University of California at Berkley who discovered Mitochondrial EVE.

As if a childish fable isn't enough, we know from DNA/genetics, that there were never fewer than approximately 7,000 member of the human species.
No Adam, no Eve. No Flood. No Exodus.
All childish fables.

Because it isn't a fact. It's religious bull.
There are laws that separate church and state, and there are laws that separate church and schools.
They cannot teach religious bull in schools.
For those who DO want to pollute their children's minds with religious crap, there are Christian schools.
