Question about marlin 1895 rifle?

Yes, I used to have one. It is a great gun. I wanted the guide gun too but it does not have a pistol grip, so I bought the rifle and had my gunsmith cut the barrel down to guide gun length, reattach the front sight, and add a good recoil pad. I carried it at the ranch for hogs.

If you want some fun, go to the website below and get the 550 grain lead bullet specifically made for the Marlin 1895 and load your own. You can stop darn near anything in it's tracks with that bullet. It will go clean through a hog, several hogs in fact. I killed two with one shot one time. Or, if you are a wuss, you can get the 420 grain version.

I don't remember the cost per round. The major cost is for bullets. But, you are not likely to go plinking all afternoon with a .45-70. I had a Ruger No 1 in .45-70 too but I liked the Marlin better.

The old ones made by Marlin were very nice firearms. The ones made since remington took over have had a ton of issues. Some say that the bugs are worked out and the newest ones are back to pre Remington quality(very good). Accuracy is typically pretty good but not great most will shoot in the 2" range for 3 shots at 100 yards. Average cost to reload is going to depend largely on the bullet you choose to reload and if you have the brass or not.

i have the 1895 gbl 18.5" barrel with a 6shot tube. i love this rifle first shot out of box was on mark at 100yds i got luckythe way it was set. but i've used it out to 300yds open sights it's bang on. recoil is alright. as for reloading it's easy the same as others. cost for me on reload is between .90$ 1.55$ depending on bullet i'm loading.

A superb all around rifle. In these days the cost of bullets is out of sight so the more you shoot the more it will cost.
