The sooner the BBC gravy train is privatised the better.

The BBC 'chose' its direction leading up too the verdict....which the BBC didn't expect - and supported the 'young thug' because of 'some' public sympathy reaction - showing (as you say) baby faced photo's of years ago....no matter 'they' showed pictures of 'him' wearing a gangland Hoodie with clenched fist salute in the 'beginning' when it was 1st reported - as other TV channels did....but was 'never shown again after the decision to support him was agreed internally by the BBC.

The media do this sort of thing all the time - once choosing who they will support they will all 'claim' the person was a pillar in their community etc....and give these moronic parents a platform too 'spew out' all their unreasoning excuses for a 'feral offspring's' criminal/bad behaviour.

It happened in the UK recently - the police shot dead a 'known' armed criminal/drug dealer etc and the parents were 'bleating about' how wrong it was to shoot their (feral) son....no matter 'he' was into carrying guns all the time....gimme strength.!!

Its an image they want to portray, you may as well show a picture of when he a two year old if not concerned about showing the true facts.

But hey, its the BBC, a law onto itself, you don't have to look no further at how they handled the Jimmy Savile scandal to realise that.

When their own investigation into Jimmy Savile got to hot to handle what do they go and do, they drop it, now then, what does that tell you.

Somehow the picture of a 'tough home-boy with gold teeth' doesn't get the same reaction!

The sympathy vote that is all. No picture of the thieving thug he turned out to be as that wouldn't be PC in the 'hug a spade' world we live in today.

They want the public to feel sympathy for what happen. So they use an old picture to create public outrage.

edit: oh right googled... the BBC is run by class hate rich socialists determined to inject foreign experience to better hate the working poor in this county... rosa parks caught the 9.20 am bus into crew and black slaves were hung from essex cotton tress.. those people are worse than nazis, don't fall for their BS..
