What cat breed have the biggest ears? I am feeling upset a bout this idea and it woud help me if some body?

tells me a bout cat breeds with big ears with photos of them. Why woud some body try to breed cats with big ears any way? I am feeling angry cuz it dont seem to do a cat no good to have BIG BIG ears at all.

Thank you very much!!

Update:

Warren I ben singing a song a bout your lovely cay VIOLA and I wish she couda heard it cuz cats love my singing. She is very pretty and her ears aint the kind Im upset a bout. That first photo of a lil baldy cat! What if people wanted cats with ears more bigger then that? What if some one wanted to breed cats with ears bigger then there heads?

Is it right that people can pick the animals to breed to make them how they want them to look. What if the way some one want them to look make the cat sickly and unhappy?

I wake up before don with a bad dream a bout this cuz I ben thinking a bout it alot. I even worry a bout my chickens.

Viola is pretty and you tell her so from her ant Jilly!

The pictures I have seen of Sphynxes make the ears look really large, but part of that could be due to the fact that they are hairless and their heads look smaller without the fur, and their ears look huge by comparison. I once saw someone describe them as "satellite dish ears". Among more normal cats, a lot of Abyssinians seem to have really large ears. We have two adult Ocicats, and while the older larger girl looks pretty normal, the younger smaller one has ear that really look large. We think it is really cute, and in fact one of our nicknames for her is "Ears", pronounced EEEEAAAARS. The last picture below is of her! She was very offended by your negative comments about EARS by the way!

What's not to love about a cat with EARS? Breeders don't breed for the ears, they just come for free!

Edit: Thanks Jilly, we think she is beautiful too, as is her playmate, our first Oci Saphira, who we just found out yesterday was a show champion, she was number 21 on the TICA list of "best Ocicats" for 2011! I do partly agree with you, there are some breeds that should not have been created. Ocis are not a problem, they are a combination of Siamese, Abyssinian, and Domestic Shorthair, the result is a very large strong cat with a lot of genetic diversity and few inherited health problems. Munchkins bother me, they have a gene for dwarfism that can lead to a several health problems, all because people thing cats with short legs are cute! The current craze for so called "teacup Persians" is even worse, there is no such breed, and no responsible breeder will try to create them. The breeders who do are probably propagating something like a dwarfism gene, and the kittens that result have lots of problems. But with all the publicity for celebretards like Kim Kartrashian and her famous teacup kitty, who died at three or four months old, it creates a demand for these because people think they are cute. And they do go for big $$$. My wife used to breed Himalayans at one time, and responsible breeders try to improve the breed, not cater to the lasts fad for extra $$$. Most smaller breeders do it as a hobby and for the love of their breeds, and actually don't make much if any money on their operations.

Kai, your kitty sounds really cute too. Viola just turned two in May, so we kind of hope she is about as big as she will get, and thus the ears will continue to look large!

My cat has big ears for her head and body size. She's a small, plain tabby but she's got huge ears and eyes and paws, plus she has these long hairs that sort of stick out like a baby kitten so she still looks like a kitten in many ways (even the vet mentioned this) but she is 17 years old now. With her big ears she hears everything, even stuff the other cat doesn't hear until it get louder. They aren't Dumbo ears, just kind of too large for her age.

I can't think of one breed of cat that has ears that are unusually large for it's size. Maine Coons have long ear tufts, but that is just their fur. Really - cat's ears upset you? You need to get a grip!

The purebreed Siamese and Orientals have the biggest/tallest ears that I know of. I don't see anything wrong with big ears.

Interesting point, but I am not 100% convinced
