Yes, you will. A few months ago I bought a rifle and a pistol at the same time from the same dealer at a gun show. I had to wait for and pay for two separate background checks, apparently because the some of the idiots who were involved in the development of this process thought that I might be okay during the first check but go out and get myself into trouble before the second one is run. So, yes, every firearm purchase from an FFL dealer requires its own NICS check.

Also, note that the purchases I just summarized took place at a gun show, and yet background checks were performed before they could be completed. Where was this "gun show loophole" that liberal politicians and gun control advocates are always banging the drum about? I know, they're talking about private transactions involving non-FFL individuals, and yes, they happen at gun shows. They also happen at garage sales, flea markets, swap meets. and between friends hanging out after work. Also in front of crack houses. Yet ask someone who's not really paying attention, and they're likely to say that those monstrous gun shows are the problem because they're full of crazy people looking to shoot everything up.

Yes. Each and every time you purchase a gun in California you will be extorted cold hard cash for a background check even if you just purchased a gun 2 weeks prior.

Yes. California will make exercising your gun rights as inconvenient as possible.

Every time a firearm is purchased through a licensed firearm dealer it is run through the NICS background check system.
