Must-See Attractions in the Seattle/Tacoma, WA Area?
Hello! I am headed to the Tacoma/Seattle, Washington area soon with my boyfriend.... I have no ideas on where the must-see spots to go are. We are for sure going to the space needle, pikes, market, but is there some other hidden jewels around the area? Even a little drive is ok, but I'm trying to keep the drive under 2hrs.... any answers would be much appreciated! Thank you!

In addition to the Pike Place Market: http://www.squidoo.com/Seattle-Pike-Place-Market and Space Needle: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-space-needle here are some other ideas:
Be sure to go down to the waterfront - there are several parks, Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe, the Great Wheel, the Seattle Aquarium and the ferry dock where you can take a trip on the ferry to Bainbridge Island: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-ferry-to-bainbridge
The Space Needle is located at the Seattle Center and there are actually several other things to see and do there including the Pacific Science Center, EMP/SciFi Museum and Chihuly Glass Garden: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-center
Another area you should check out is Pioneer Square and the Seattle Underground Tour: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-underground-tour
Most people seem to enjoy taking a ride on the ducks: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-ride-the-duck

For a scenic drive, you might want to go east on I-90 to see Snoqualmie Falls: http://www.squidoo.com/snoqualmie-falls It is only about an hour away from Seattle.

Instead of going for a drive, take a ferry ride. The ferries leave from the downtown waterfront to Bremerton (longer trip) and Bainbridge Island (shorter trip). It's less than $10/person for foot passengers from Seattle (more if you want to bring your car, but I wouldn't)...and the return trip is free.
The Columbia Tower is the tallest building in Seattle. They have an observation floor that is waaay higher than the Space Needle and about half the price.
There are a bunch of cool/funky neighborhoods throughout Seattle if you want to break away from the touristy downtown area. Capitol Hill is pretty easy to get to if you don't mind walking ~1 mile (walk east on Pike or Pine from downtown). Lots of restaurants/bars/coffee shops there and it's kind of known for being a hipster mecca lol.
Fremont (check out the troll under the Aurora Bridge), Ballard, and the U-District are some other cool neighborhoods, but too far to walk to from downtown. Drive (street parking is free on Sundays but hard to find on weekdays). Or take a bus.

We have a city called Renton that is gradually turning into one giant Walmart.
Source(s): Just make sure you don't call it "Pikes" market or people will laugh at you.
