Credit card for college students with no income?
I'm a full time college student with no income (for obvious reasons), and doesn't receive scholarships, grants, loans, or financial aid. I do have financial assistance from my parents (as their dependent).
Am I eligible to apply for credit cards still, considering all the changes since 2010 for minors/no income folks? And would I be eligible without a co-signer? I don't plan on using it, just want to build my credit.

The law requires that you provide proof of sufficient income to qualilfy for the card or have a parent co-sign. No income pretty much means you won't qualify for any card, including a secured card.
By the way, just having a credit card does NOT build your credit. You have to use it on a regular basis. It's the payment history that builds credit.
Perhaps you parents will add you as an authorized user to one of their existing credit cards. The account would show on your credit and count in your FICO score (only for spouses and kids). You wouldn't have to use the card, but your parent's history of using the card would give your credit a jumpstart.

Unfortunately you need to be able to prove you have an income before you can qualify for a credit card, you also need to have some credit score established, catch 22 but being a student isn't a great position to be borrowing credit card money.

If you dont have a job, i would recommend the VISA Federal One Credit Card.
It's a non-profit Credit Card for freelancer, students, housewifes and especially for people without a job and the best thing is, it doesnt affect your credit score.
I lost my job a few month ago and got a new card without any problems.
You can find all information here: http://www.federal1creditcard.com/
This is exactly what you are searching for.

Get a secured card - that way you can build a credit line at no risk to the company, since you're spending money you deposit ahead of time.
Otherwise, anyone who gives people credit based on no evident means of paying it back is kind of asking for trouble.

Your question tells me, that no matter what, next semester, you need to take a course in Personal Finance. If you really believe they give cards to no income, then you are a financial disaster just waiting to happen.

1) there is no such thing as a credit card with no income. I thought you needed common sense to get into college? Why would you be given a credit card with ZERO means of paying you bill each month?? Seriously!!
2) what is your "obvious reason" for not having a job?? I went to school for 18 units a term AND worked 25-30 hours a week WHILE maintaining a 3.5 GPA....so what is your excuse? Most college kids work....don't be lazy!
