You can't get an annulment for free regardless of whether there are kids involved. There are specific reasons when an annulment can be done and they vary from state to state. He needs to speak to a lawyer to see if it's even an option for him.

Kelley, This all depends on your state laws. Your son needs to seek an attorney for this and present it to a judge and he will determine if it is granted or not. An annulment is: a marriage that actually did not exist if he grants it, like it never happened. Divorce is a legal step to dissolve a marriage and is also issued by the courts. There are very inexpensive non contested divorces that are also an option, where both parties agree on what whom gets and there is no mediator needed. As you know thou, many young people have some rough times when they first marry, let him make the choice of whether or not he wishes to remain married and work on it. The simple fact is it is their marriage, they need to decide on what to attempt to do whether, annulment, divorce or separation simply. Your son decided to marry this lady, so he will also have to decide whether to end it, you cannot do this for him.

    Wish your son well.

If he is serious about this, then he needs to seek legal family counsel

Nothing legal is EVER free. If annulment papers must be filed, it will cost them at least a couple hundred dollars to have them drawn up and filed in the court. It can be done by a paralegal. There will be a paralegal fee and court costs.

Maybe your son and his new wife can make that decision together, and possibly work through their problems before considering splitting up. Their issue is really none of your business.
