Have some strange VHS tapes?
I have two VHS tapes marked "For Your Consideration.' Often, during the video, they put the words 'For Screening Purposes Only." Any ideas? Maybe submissions for Oscars or such?

Video stores would also get these a few weeks before official release. Distributors would send them out to retail video stores so the owners could view them and decide how many copies to buy. The stores would have to return them within a week or two, so they are pretty rare. Copies like these are also sent out for "awards consideration", as well. But, those too, are usually supposed to be returned to the studios. On rare occasions, these will contain some different (or omitted) footage.
