KDE+Debian Linux distro?

Hi. I'm currently on Ubuntu with KDE. but i'm having some performance issues with KDE and some other qt4 based applications. so with the X11 and Mir conflicts coming, I'm looking for a reliable and supported Debian based Linux distro with KDE other than Kubuntu. Linux is my main OS so it has to be very stable has anyone got any suggestions?

Well Debian and Ubuntu both use the .deb extention for software insterlation and they both use the apt-get install to find software. If you want something Debian based, try Linux mint

I suspect that you might not have installed KDE in ubuntu fully and are therefore having problems. It is best to install the full compliment of KDE packages (kubuntu-desktop). See the first link.

You can install debian with the KDE desktop. See the second link.

Kubuntu is the ubuntu distro with KDE as the default desktop. See the third link.

Nearly any debain distro can have the KDE desktop installed as an optional desktop. Simply install the full compliment of KDE packages.

    Hope this helps

If you want a pure KDE distro, I recommend that you give Chakra Linux a run http://www.chakra-project.org/ .

If it has to be Debian, then go here http://www.debian.org/CD/live/ and download the KDE version.

Mepis would be another good choice http://www.mepis.org/mirrors . I have used mepis before and really liked it.

you can still use a ubuntu based system, if it is the long term support (LTS) release, 12.04.

    http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/

xfce desktop is more stable than kde, perhaps use xubuntu 12.04. it can be made to look like almost anything.

    http://xubuntu.org/getxubuntu/

or perhaps linux mint 13 cinnamon for some animation effects.

    http://www.linuxmint.com/release.php?id=18

there is also lxle which is light and a little different.

    http://lxle.net/

all are supported until april 2017

the major to a sturdy distro is how little customization you need to do to get what you want. Me i'm a fellow KDE fan. So I have a tendency to need distros that paintings and play nicely with KDE. i'm in my opinion utilising Ubuntu LTS because for me reinstalling each and every 12 months or 2 is very painful. It takes me six months to customise a distro purely the way i love it. when I do i want to run it until eventually the hardware dies. i do not want to spend better time engaged on my device than doing stuff with it. i would like those hours invested to go back hours kept over the arriving years. i have run a similar set up for as many as 5 years beforehand. I had it how I beloved it and that is the way it stayed until eventually the MB died. the superb integreation with KDE i have considered develop into Fedora although the quick lifecycle of Fedora quite irked me. Fedora as has significantly better primitive help for proprietary formats yet has the superb driver base of any distro. in case you won't be able to set up on a device with Fedora you prob won't be able to set up out of the field with any distro. i exploit CentOS for a lot of my server apps. My report server and backup servers use CentOS. It has sturdy LTS yet heavily lacking in consumer apps and help for proprietary formats is abysmal. that is a server oriented distro, no longer a sturdy determination for a pc yet an outstanding determination for a device you positioned in on and be conscious in reality to replace. something else of the time my interactions with those servers are automatic. My suggestion is bypass to distrowatch. receive the stay CDs of a dozen promising distros. Play with them as a stay distro and get a experience for them. Then set up some the superb potentialities. each and all people will want diverse issues out of Linux. it really is between the large attracts of Linux. Your no longer surpassed a one length matches all answer and informed to stay with it. you decide on what maximum heavily matches your needs then personalize it to larger healthful your needs like a glove. With Linux you've an OS that quite reflects what you want out of a workstation and meets your needs.
