It happens to me too, I'm arab and our city has alot of arabs around. Whenever white kids talk to me, they be like "yeah, I got alot of arab friends too"
They probably just wanna look cool for you.

They typically are a bit worried that you won't have anything in common (due to racial and cultural differences) so it's a cough out that they probably kick themselves for saying when they get home.
