How to get a job with little job experience?

I'm a rising college Junior, and I have a pretty blank resume.

I've done lots of volunteering since High School (including an unpaid internship), and have been heavily involved in campus life since then (at least six student groups in both HS and college).

But aside from that.. I don't have much else to put.

Some of my commitments have taken me to conferences, earned awards, and given me titles, but all were unpaid and relatively minor.

Perhaps even worse, the bulk of them are not related to my major.

So, whenever I apply for anything, I have a largely empty resume filled with irrelevant titles.

I keep my LinkedIn updated and keep checking job listings, but there are many more qualified individuals than me out there.

How am I supposed to break this cycle? Network? I don't have too many people to network with... I can get positions with non-profit groups, but its not what I'm in college for..

You've just given a list of things that highlight your talents and achievements!

These things are not minor and irrelevant - they show aptitude and tenacity, a willingness to work hard even for no pay, the fact that hard work does not worry you, the fact that when you do something you give it your all and don't skimp. the fact that you like to be busy, that you can deal with far more than one project at a time, that you have confidence in yourself and in your abilities. They show that you are a hard worker and that you obviously have a great deal of pride in your work that enables you to produce award winning results.

All those things that you mentioned aren't simply a list - they're a history of you life, they say things about you as a person. They highlight what a hard worker you are and the lengths you are prepared to go to.

Do a new CV. Sell yourself! Highlight all these achievements and make it clear that these things have been achieved through hard work, commitment, and pride in your work.

in case you've held any secure "jobs" like babysitting, a newspaper course, backyard paintings, etc. for persons except family contributors you may want to contain this and/or use the persons who employed you as references. once you've been in any golf equipment or performed activities contained in the perfect 12 months or 2 factor out that someplace on there. yet in case you have not executed something like this do not problem. even as the skill organization seems at your resume and sees you're in reality in severe college (which they'll when you consider that purposes continuously ask on your optimal factor of steerage) they'll understand in case you do not have any interest adventure. there's a first for each thing correct?!

My dad went to college for banking and did that for a year before joining the secret service and later on becoming a criminal investigater for the state of ny, he never did anything but banking in college so no matter what others say, it's possible

Your volunteer jobs are as good as experience so make sure to include them in your LinkedIn profile as well as your CV.

get your physical walking shoes on.

get yourself walking door to door filing out

    applications.

where it says experience - put none.

plenty of places hire inexperienced people

    to train.

forget the Internet bs for job hunting.

for every opening we get 300-600.

we actually talk with those that get their back

    sides up and come in.

    shows back bone.

u got nothing to offer except a warm body.

got to library for dozens of books on job hunting, dress/grooming,

interviewing. they are skills u need to learn.

sort of like fishing and flirting. u got to DO to land one.
