child that has had an abused background. (A character in my book manuscript).

The child is a boy, he was one of four children. The parents abused all four, but more so the boy. The boy, (Joey), had a favorite toy, but, I can't figure out what it is.
Any ideas?

An action figure hero. If the child has an abused background more than likely he'll want someone to save him from the abuse. So his favourite toy most likely will be an action figure hero who the boy admires immensely.
