How long will it take for a diesel truck engine to heat up?

I live in FL, the temperature at its coldest only gets to like 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but most days its about 80-95 degrees here. I know its sad..its really hot here. If I got a diesel truck how long should I let it warm up for? Id like to just start it and go, I don't plan to do anything except drive it from point A-B on roads and very slightly go on a dirt road or something. If I did start it and go in this weather what would happen to the engine over time? EX: Start engine 30secs later am driving normally down the road and possibly onto highway.

I've driven Freightliners with Detroit 60 series, Volvo's with Cummins/Volvo's and a Kenworth with a Cat.

50*F The 3 year old Freightliner got about 10 min. Volvo at 5 years old was 7 min. The 10 year old Kenworth would fire up and go within 5 mi

The year, make and model matters. If it's a pick up truck less than two years old, it can take it.

If you're talking semi trucks, dump trucks, or any other heavy duty equipment, it's wise to warm your engine..
