When thinking about having kids?
Do you consider the future?
Do you think about sustainability?
What do you think of the population explosion? The world population has risen from 2 to 7 billion in the last 85 years. How does this make you feel about your child's future?
While you may see it as your "right" to have as many kids as you want, do you think about the rights of future generations? If the global population continues to grow, it is highly likely that governments will be forced to take drastic measures to reduce it (following in China's 'one child' policy). Is it right to only think about your own selfish wants? Or should you be thinking about the future of the planet for your children, and their children?
Why are so many people obsessed with a huge nuclear family? Why are people so poorly educated on sustainable family planning? Why can't people see that "family" extends far beyond just parents and their biological children?
@ K
Its that attitude that has ****** society. Isn't it time that we started reeducating the next generation, in the hope that they may have a chance at survival? If things continue as they are, the only advantage of having multiple kids will be that you can eat them in the future.

Well, the truth is populations in most developed countries are decreasing. The reason our population is increasing in general is because of developing countries. Of course we are all on this planet together, and I definitely think we should look after it, it's actually people in countries such as India, who should stop having so many kids. Without immigrants, canada's population would be rapidly decreasing.
I have two kids, but i try to save the planet in other ways. We don't drive a lot, i buy locally grown produce, i compost and buy things carefully based on the amount of packaging, etc. There are other things one can do.

Yes, I consider that.
For that reason, I think that on average, families should not have more than 3 kids, unless the fourth or more children are adopted.
I find it strange and annoying that the population is increasing, because there are only so many resources on the earth and eventually, more people than the earth can support.

Because in the U.S. we aren't focused on sacrificing the self for the good of the amorphous community.
Essentially, it's a matter of "I'm not asking you to raise them or pay for them. That's my job. Now go meddle somewhere else."
Haven't you noticed the selfishness of mankind is basically boundless? And as such, why should the rest of us live our lives in duty to the community that doesn't consider you right back?

Not really :)
