Why can't USA Government build a 1 mile thick wall with electric fences across the Mexican-USA Border?

1) It would be a bad idea

2) Who pays for it? You? Cuz I'm not gonna.

I'm thinking more of a Berlin Wall kind of arrangement. Only this time, to keep people out, not in.

That's a great idea, but the USA government allows immigration (unfortunately), and they most likely cant afford it.

The house would not approve the money needed

That would prevent future democrat voters from reaching the polling locations.

Does that include the Canadian border as well?
