Why can't USA Government build a 1 mile thick wall with electric fences across the Mexican-USA Border?

    I'm thinking more of a Berlin Wall kind of arrangement. Only this time, to keep people out, not in.

    Two walls. A no-man's land in between. Guard towers spaced out.

    That's a great idea, but the USA government allows immigration (unfortunately), and they most likely cant afford it.
