M&P 40 full size: anything i should know?

Just aquired a used m&p 40 with night sights, 5 mags and a cheap OWB holster for 550 bucks.

So far my impressions are only from racking the slide, holding it, and dropping the mag and its simply incredible. Have yet to fire it but since it didnt come with a manual my questions (besides field stripping as ive watched enough you tube to know how to do that) i know i could look elsewhere but im just curious to hear some personal experience advice/info from anyone who owns this firearm as well as any warnings.

Btw the night sights are trijicon and are the non-recharge type i believe.

Thanks.

I haven't shot the .40, only the .45 full size M&P. And it simply shoots incredibly. The pistol sits low in the hand and is very easy to control, even with rapid fire. They are reliable pistols, and if anything ever goes wrong, Smith and Wesson has great customer service and believe me, they take care of their customers. Depending on how many rounds were put through it by the previous owner, some parts may need to be changed (such as the recoil spring at 5,000 rounds), but I doubt he put anywhere near that many to need any parts replaced for a long time.

So, there's nothing bad to say about this gun. If you haven't shot a .40SW, just know that it'll be pretty snappy. Other than that, congratulations on your purchase, sounds like you got a great deal, especially with 5 mags. Enjoy shooting it :)

The first thing you should know is where the manual can be downloaded. It is here:

    http://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore/SmWesson2/upl...

The second thing you should know is the entire contents of the manual.

Third thing is to make sure you clean and lube it before shooting.

If you have never owned a handgun before consider taking a pistol course.

Other than that, have fun. The night sights will last around 10 years or so.

What should you know? Well, you can get conversion barrels so that it can shoot 9mm and .357sig in it
