How can I get a 6 minute mile?

I have two goals before May of next year:

6 minute mile

13 minute 2 mile

Only problem? I'm really slow.

My mile time right now is a little over 7 minutes. My two mile time is about 14:45. If I ran everyday, is it possible to achieve those times? If so, what can i do to achieve this time? Any certain smaller goals to have first, or certain pace? Thanks

Update:

EDIT: Its for my soccer team, if you want to start on the Varsity team you HAVE TO make those times. Even if you're one of the best players, you won't start unless you make those times. So this is kinda important!

You are pretty cose to 6 minute mile and 13 minute two mile. You have plenty of time. Whatever your goal time is, break down the distance and split the times, then train for that. Since you can run 7 minute mile, I suggest start training at 6 minute mile pace. It will carry over for the two mile.

1 mile is 4 laps on a track.

6 minutes breaks down into: 3 minutes each half mile, 800 meters, (2 laps).

That breaks down to 1 1/2 minutes (90 seconds) each lap, 400 meters.

That breaks down to 45 seconds each 200 meters, half lap.

You will use these numbers for your training when you run intervals on the track,

    Example workout routine.

Monday, Wednseday, Friday do 3-4 miles normal jog pace.

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday you run on the track at 6 minute mile pace, not all out sprinting.

You can mix & match any combo: Start with 3-4 intervals with same amount of time for rest in between. Later you can increase to 5-6 intervals then 7-8 intervals.

    3-4 200 meters(45 seconds) & 3-4 400 meters(90 seconds), or 3-4 800 meters(3 minutes)

As you improve and get closer to tryouts time( 2-3 weeks), train for faster pace. You will know for sure you can handle a 6 minute mile.

You can also look for the cross-country or long distance track coach and ask im for help.
