Can you C/C this METH-ODD of Self Destruction?

The Claws of the Beast!

He had heard about the danger, had to see it for himself.

It would never befall him, it was always someone else.

He began to play too close to the deep and dismal wood.

That small voice was screaming, the danger understood.

This warning is for all, who presume to know no fear.

Your soul will be burning, when the evil beast is near.

Demons creep to greet you, hear their heinous sighs.

The beast may even whisper, someone's telling lies.

Not long ago they had their health, irrational but strong.

The horror in the mirror, proof, their audacity was wrong.

The beast has ripped their lives apart, hopeless situation.

Now they have nowhere to turn in their lonely desperation.

The mutilated bodies, found, North, West, South and East.

METH-ODD of Self Destruction, The Claws of the Beast.

Update:

I Meant add an S onto METH-ODDS of Self Destruction

Update 2:

.

Update 3:

This is simply my poetic attempt at describing the Dangers of Meth. I had a friend who's son was murdered by a meth. addict in an attempted robbery.

You crafted a good poem here on a tough subject that affected

you personally with your friends son. So sorry about that.

Your writing is improving, a much better flow, and good rhyme

pattern to boot. Next will come your beat and syllable count

if you ever want to really stretch yourself (meter) but I have found

and seen in poetry so many variations of beauty in the arrangement

of words, so, no hurries or worries. Congrats.

So it has been and so it shall ever be - youth will not learn from others' experience but needs must try things for themselves, and their sense of immortality eclipses all fear. "The horror in the mirror..." - I've seen those incredibly disturbing pictures on the internet of the progressive deterioration in the appearance of chronic meth users. Frightening, but even those images probably wouldn't deter certain people from trying it.

So sad about your friend's son.

Good poem, Robert - thanks for posting it.

I'm up with THE CROW about teenagers' quests,

they listen to nothing, thinking they'll beat all tests.

The ones still alive have few teeth in their head,

wrinkled too early, and soon to be dead.
