5.5 brigs and straton lawn mower wont run?

its from 2008 craftsmen lawnmower with a 5.5 brigs engine on it. it has the diaphragm carb on top of the tank.

i bought it off of a guy who said it did not run. he replaced the mag coil and spark plug and nothing. i found the carb sticking and the gaskets leaking so i replaced the carb and the gaskets plus changed the oil because it smelled like gas. after that still have nothing.

any ideas

Update:

checked the spark and there is a blue spark.

    Do you have spark? Is the ignition coil gap set correctly? It should be about .005 ". That is not a critical measurement but it can not be touching the flywheel. If it is set right and you don't have spark, disconnect the small black wire from the ignition coil and try again. That small wire is the kill wire. It grounds the coil and kills the spark. Another thing, the main fuel jet is built into the fuel tank. Make sure that is clean and free of dirt. Make sure that the screen on the bottom of the fuel pick up tube is allowing fuel to flow.     If the lawnmower hit something, sometimes it can bend the flywheel key, making it out of time. Is the plug wet? Are you sure it's getting gas in there?
