That Final Gift From Life, C/C?

The Final Gift of Life

In life's twilight gloom, yearning for relief,

bowed head, closed eyes, seeking any peace.

What anguish this gift from life,

when she heard that final bell?

She had left him here with silent,

emptiness,to face these gates of hell.

His back pain was at ten,

his heartack at one hundred.

He had so many doubts,

so many trials ahead.

The future had slipped past,

what wisdom in looking back.

Would his sweetest memories,

be distorted by the facts?

His back pain was still at ten,

his heartache still one hundred.

When Hope and memories began to fade,

when there was nothing left to dread.

Reaching out with grateful heart,

He accepts that final gift from life.

    This is something Mr. Ripple

I know what real back pain is like, and I mean "Real"

not the kind where one Aleve a day makes back pain

    go away.

You put a lot into this piece, more than just back pain,

and I applaud your effort. The amazing thing I see is

you have a big upside if you continue to press on.

As heart wrenching as this is, the inevitable is not always easy to handle for one or both. Losing a loved one might be, no is likely, the worst experience one can endure and no amount of knowing can ever prepare us. Well expressed piece, alluding to one day accepting the peace.
