Yeah Krillan is like a very bad sidekick for Gohan. The fact he is a joke is whats funniest about him!
Tien was cool in DB yeah he turns into nothing...
Yamcha was okay in the DBZ like when he said he could handle the green creatures planted by Napa but then gets blown up because he was cocky. Totally useless.
In the Buu saga he had to train those 2 kids because they were very strong but couldn't control their powers. Unfortunate really. After Gohan beat Cell he was a total loser, he did nothing! He was joke...
Vegeta was awesome, but in GT he turns SSJ4!? That's not useless!

Erm well GT is really a filler series but I get your point.
Some people say that Gohan was the strongest in the entire DMZ series but for GT he had been living a peaceful life. Vegeta and Goku were the only ones that still trained and tbh I wouldn't really care Vegeta useless. He gets his body taken over by Baby because he is the strongest and it forces Goku to learn SSJ4. He is also there for Omega Shenron as he fuses with Goku when they are both SSJ4.

GT is non canon so it is basically not real. In Dragon Ball Z Gohan, Future Trunks, Piccolo , Vegeta, Goten and Trunks are useful.

i know but gohan stoped fighting when he got a girl friend
goku knew his son was able to kill cell so he had confidence in him
vegeta still tries to become stronger but then realizes that he cant beat goku
