Now that US income inequalities are the highest they have ever been?
Is it time that 99% of Americans give up the so called "American dream?"

It's just as easy for anyone in the 99% category to become a 1% person. Even people that fall in the 1% category don't stay there permanently. The "American dream" allows for fluctuations in the hierarchy to allow turn over and upward mobility.
What is a fallacy is that there can be a permanent middle class. Just like attaining the upper echelon of the economic scale is only temporary, middle class status is fraught with the same vulnerabilities.
In other words, the "American dream" is not a promise for certainty in your life. The "American dream" has always been the freedom to accomplish the goals of your choice. We just happen to be living in a time where your dream of choice might be harder to attain than it did before.

No, it means we have to take back the American dream. There are A LOT more of us poor and middle class folks than there are rich. Each of us have a vote. All the money and legislation in the world won't change that. We need to exercise our vote and shove every one of the big business cronies out the Congressional door. And keep doing it every two years until we get the government we want.

Yeah. It's becoming nearly impossible now that big money has control of congress.
At least we have the Affordable Care Act. Isn't it telling that congress tried so hard to de-fund that?

Is it time for these socialist nanny state idiots to wake up and realize that government interference in the market is how we got here?
It's not that hard to see. In the past, even with LESS technology, the country was wealthier. Today, even with much more technology to increase efficiency and solve problems, we feel poorer. The main fundamental difference today is that government is MORE powerful, more involved, and more obedient to special interests.

It depends on what you think the American dream is. Most think it is being debt free.

Sounds like someone is jealous and or lazy.
Jealous as envious that others live better and lazy as in won't make an effort to improve your own life.

Not at all! We just need to boost demand by raising minimum wage, we need balanced trade rather than free trade.

What's wrong with income inequality? Would you prefer a whole country of poor people over one of rich, middle, and poor?
