I'm not even a Catholic, cupcake, and I don't buy into the mythology, but I can flipping read and know that "implored thy help or sought thy intercession" means they're asking for her to take an interest in their lives and to add her prayers to theirs, on the principle that she would probably have more influence than their single prayer might.

It's like in feudal England, if you were a lowly peasant and you needed the king to grant your petition, you wouldn't just take it to the king yourself. He'd be unlikely to hear you above the noise of all the other lowly peasants with petitions. No, you'd try to interest your feudal lord in your cause, or his lord, or someone close to the king. That wouldn't mean that you thought that the feudal lords or the king's friend actually REPLACED the king, would it?

Really. If you folks would just use a little bit - just the teensiest bit - of sense, the world would be a better place all around.

Oh bull. Don't give me that "cherry picking" garbage - I have degrees in English literature and work as a professional writer and editor. The "general theme of the quotes" is that Catholics ask Mary for intercession, for help in getting their prayers granted by their god. They ask her to be their patron, their protector, their voice TO god and in return, they devote themselves to her service, as someone who shows them how to gain sinlessness. Nothing more. Not ONCE in any of those quotes does the person even suggest that Mary has the ability to forgive sins or grant "salvation."

Going back to the feudal metaphor, feudal lords and barons were patrons and protectors - of artists, of their own vassals, of organizations - but that didn't mean that they were the ultimate authority over those people...they were still subjects of the king.

there are prayers about Mary but l never heard of those prayers you posted. yes she is revered by the church and to my way of thinking should be. So is it wrong because the Protestant believe that Mary is just another mother when they translated the Catholic Latin Bible into English and named it the King James Bible. with some omissions.

Mary is considered in the Roman Catholic Hierarchy as second only to the Blessed Trinity. Roman Catholics and all people should show her the respect, devotion, and  admiration for one that is  second in command.  One may call it worship, adoration, or whatever you want to call it. Mary is my superior and your superior. She does not answer to us. We answer to her. Mary served God in a manner greater than even I can imagine. She still serves God in a manner greater than any of us.
