By Grace Through Faith
How is this NOT the worship of Mary? I mean, SERIOUSLY!?
"Remember, O gracious
Virgin Mary, that never was
it known that anyone who
fled to thy protection, implored thy
help or sought thy intercession was
left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly to thee,
O Virgin of Virgins and
my Mother; to thee I
come, before thee I kneel,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions, but
in thy mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen."
"My Queen, my Mother! I give myself entirely to thee, and to show my devotion to thee I consecrate to thee this day, my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole being without reserve, Wherefore, good Mother, as I am thine own, keep me, guard me, as thy property and possession."
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoI say this verse proves the doctrine of the Trinity is Biblical. What say you?
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
You're probably aware that the Bible uses the terms "the Word" and "the Word of God" as a title for Christ on several occasions.
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years ago7DA's Do you know why one of yours would praise Jesus and preach the sabbath at the same time?
Here's a response to a question about someone trying a nondenominational church for the first time and as an adult.
"7th Day Adventist keep the sabbath /one of the ten commandments...its human nature to judge everyone of us is a work in progress only Jesus got it perfectly right."
Isn't the New Testament abundantly clear concerning the sabbath? I don't mean to make it sound like I think it's wrong to keep the sabbath; I'm just saying it's not Christian to condemn those that don't.
I really don't know what you guys teach and haven't taken the time to research it. All I know is I see the occasional across-the-board "reproof" for Christians who don't keep the sabbath. I'm just wondering is this person being a good representative of what you guys believe?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoJW's: Since you guys don't believe in a place or state of everlasting suffering,?
What do the following verses mean?
Matthew 18:8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
2 Thessalonians 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Matthew 25:46 reads quite a bit differently in the nwt; but what about the other three verses - what do they mean?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoJW's: If hell is not real, what torment and flame was the rich man speaking of in Luke 16:24?
"And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame."
Or did the "scholars" take this verse out of the NWT?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoJW's: What does the NWT say at these places?
[Matthew 3:12][Matthew 5:22][Matthew 8:11-12][Matthew 10:28][Matthew 13:30][Matthew 13:38-42][Matthew 13:49-50][Matthew 18:8-9][Matthew 22:13][Matthew 25:28-30][Matthew 25:41][Matthew 25:46][Mark 9:43-48][Luke 3:17][Luke 16:23-28][Acts 2:24][2 Thessalonians 1:8-9][James 3:6][Jude 1:23][Revelation 1:18].[Revelation 9:1-2][Revelation 14:10-11][Revelation 19:20][Revelation 20:15]
This list is not exhaustive.
All these passages teach a literal hell, a place described with such words as everlasting burnings, everlasting fire, torments, wailing, gnashing of teeth, etc.
Isn't it true that you guys don't believe in an eternal hell?
Are all these verses changed or omitted in the NWT?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoJW's: Why do you believe the NWT is the correct "translation"?
Don't recommend a Bible study. I know how to study the Bible on my own; and if I did want someone else's input, it wouldn't be that of a JW.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoSince the office of pope contradicts the New Testament, why do catholics insist Jesus started their religion?
in Matthew 16:18. (Jesus would not start a religion that contradicts the New Testament). Furthermore, the Greek word translated into church here (G1577) does not mean universal. Certainly the catholic religion has some roots in New Testament Christianity, but if it ever was a Biblical religion, it ceased to be so no later than the moment the office of pope was adopted.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoSince today's catholicism so obviously contradicts the entire book of Romans, along with other Scriptures,?
Why do catholics keep insisting that their religion was founded in Matthew 16:18 (And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.)? I don't know when the term "catholic" originated, but today's catholicism contradicts the Scriptures in many ways. Furthermore, the office of pope contradicts the doctrines of the New Testament. So it is absurd to keep insisting that Jesus made Peter the first pope.
