Would camping in November be too cold?

About 5 friends and I are considering to go camping on either the 8th or 9th of November (north west England) and I was wondering whether that would be too cold? If we did go we would bring enough blankets for the tent(s).

Also, if you have been camping in November before, please tell me what it was like. Did it rain? Was it too cold?

I've never been in Novemeber, but did go in March and had ice inside the tent. Even in September staying out (in the woods, not in the tent) overnight was cold - so I suggest you keep inside the tent after your tea to keep warm

Just take loads of layers, a good sleeping bag and roll mat (to insulate against the ground) and take extra blankets.

It's likely to be cold overnight and probably rain - but this is England so the weather could surprise us all and be lovely and warm (doubt it though)

I'm from the States, but yes sometimes people do go "winter camping". I've been in November, and yes, it was quite cold. It snowed and some of the moisture came into the tent along the floor, getting our sleeping bags and clothes wet.

Lots of blankets, warm clothes, plenty of provisions to make a fire, plenty of hot beverages to drink, etc. do help to keep everyone warm enough. And make sure you aren't too far from your car if you decide to pack up and head home early.

The only downside to winter camping is that there isn't as much to do- ie, swimming in the lake and other summer things are out- but you could possibly do some hunting or hiking.

    Have fun!

People camp all year round and it depends on whether you like the cold and/or rain.

If you do decide to go camping then make sure your tent is properly waterproofed and take extra warm sleeping bags with you.

The alternative would be to go to the YHA - which is really cheap and you won't have to carry around all the equipment needed for camping- especially as it's only for 2 days. You can book in advance and you'll have a warm hostel, warm bed, hot water and cooked meals available.

Ask Prince Harry about a cold night camping!

Just bring a decent sleeping bag. They are sold by the number of seasons they can be used in.

My sister camps all the year round she has a four season sleeping bag. She also camps in the snow.

Rain is very much a case of luck as is how cold it is.

Too cold is personal preference. If 35-45F at night and 50-60F during the day isn't too cold, then you're good to go.

Rain in the UK should be planned on, I'm guessing that is why you're asking. Plan on having extra shelters up for wind and rain. Hopefully, you have some fun activities planned.

    Have fun.

It will be fine as long as you are in good health and have the right equipment.

Having the right sleeping bag is much better then adding blankets to an inadequate one.

You may well get rain. That is just a nuisance as long as you are properly equipped.
