What is a nice quality medium sized car?

I like the audi a3, BMW 1 series and vw scirocco. I don't like the Honda civic. Mazda 3 are ok. Focus and astra are too common I want something special! This is the kind of size I'm looking at around 1.4 to 1.8 engine, no real price limit. Any suggestions?

The A3 and Scirocco are essentially the same car, along with the Golf. (And the Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia, with which they share a platform, so look at those too)

The BMW 1 series to me is a hopelessly 'wannabe' type of car. It exists purely for people who can't afford a decent BMW to buy into the badge. Take the BMW badge off the 1 series and it looks very silly when you compare it to a Ford Focus, which is a far better car in every way.

If you want a BMW, go 3 series or higher.

End of the day it's your choice, you'll buy what you want.

You don't like Civics? I'll just pretend I never heard that.

Audis in general are excellent value for money, so an A3 would definitely be an excellent suggestion. Along with the likes of a VW Golf (Personally own an R32 and would completely recommend a 5 door), a Passat, Bora, Audi A3/4/5/6, any BMW 3-Series, Fordies are excellent also- Focus (Maybe even an ST), Escort, Mondeo, or even a Sierra/Cossie if you enjoy vintage rallysport balanced with practicality at an affordable price; there's plenty to choose from anyway. Hell, I had an Evo 8 GSR for a while- perfectly balanced family life and my need for an awesome drivers car. Bit pricey to run and maintain but overall, would definitely suggest it. Just don't blow your turbo gasket...

The reason the Focus is common is because they sell so many, guess why that is?

The A3 is a Golf in a frock, the Scirocco is very cramped inside the rear.

Personally 1Series, 2Series (if you want a saloon), Golf or Focus.

A mini!! Diesel one. They are cheap for road tax(£20 a year!), have brilliant miles to the gallon, seem to always look clean, not too big or too small( we can get a bale if hay in ours!) come in all shapes, sizes and colours, can be personalised well, look nice, have no 'class' (by that I mean you don't have to be rich or 'poor' to have one) go really well, nice suspension, smooth to drive, very very safe and if you see a yellow one you get to hit the nearest person to you!!
