Let's say that a friend accidentally prayed that their pub would catch ablaze so that they could collect?

the insurance money to help another friend with money.

Then the friend realized that would not be very prudent.

How does that friend take the prayer back before God grants the prayer. Or are there no "backsies"?

Update:

Blodwenbogbrush: we don't have pubes either, so there goes that. Also, we have bars that call themselves pubs, plus my pub is not in America. It is in a sovereign nation.

Update 2:

(((Golden Poodle))) I can't watch the video you supplied right now because I am being listened to, but I will assume it is Ring of Fire? You can't do that on karaoke night, I'm afraid, the only songs in the dj's book are "Fancy" by Bobbie Gentry, The Happy Birthday Song and "Copa Cabana" by Barry Manilow.

Either they prayed or they didn't pray. You can't "accidentally pray". Own up to your actions.

Oh Shortcake. If it is the "friend" I am thinking about this is the 6th time in 2 years that their pub has "accidentally" caught fire. The trouble with God is that he already knows what you are thinking. The only way round this is to pray really hard for something that might distract him. So, you could ask him to arrange another worldwide flood or create a new Universe somewhere. He is a bit of a showman so he loves that sort of thing. Then hopefully he will be so excited he will have forgotten your prayer about the fire . Sorry, did I say "your" I meant "their".

God answers all prayer but sometimes the answer is no. The money may be important but a better prayer would simply be for the friend to have help with the money. Then god will provide the means for that person instead of destroying a bar. I very much doubt that prayer would happen and it is enough to simply want it stopped. a prayer has to be wanted with all your heart for it to be meaningful!

@nichole "God answers all prayers but sometimes the answer is no"

And the answer is always "no" when it's a prayer about healing a severed limb, or curing starvation in Africa, etc. Yet, God will get you a job or something else inane? Funny wizard you worship, there sweetie.

God will not burn your pub down. He know what your intentions were. He is going to help your friend. Do not worry any longer. He knows everything even that you are here now.

You can't deceive God, believe me he already knows you before you open your mouth, so no worry there. If your starting fires though I would prepare for jail

(((Shortie))) - you must listen to it. It is "Fire" sung by Robert Gordon - very cool. Imagine me singing it - heh. I used to be in the Pointers Sisters.

When the flames start, he can always invoke Beelzebub to reverse the process.
